In May, thousands of youths in the Asia-Pacific region joined the Habitat Young Leaders Build which has been ongoing for eight consecutive years. These youths showed their support for helping obtain decent and affordable housing for all, through volunteering and various creative activities.
In Cambodia, India, Fiji, Japan, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, they raised awareness for poverty, advocated for the need of affordable housing, as well as raised money for both of those causes. Volunteers from Bangladesh, Korea, Indonesia and Nepal built houses with local families and the community.
In April, a youth volunteer group from China arrived in Nanxiong, Guangdong to participate in the Rural Reconstruction Project. Dedicating their weekends, the volunteers from Owens Corning and Dow Chemical Company, students from several high schools in Hong Kong and some individual volunteers helped local low-income families with the reconstruction of their houses.
Following are some photos that capture the highlights of the build day.
